I am trying to find the best prop shaft height for this boat. I have been told from 2" above bottom to 2" below, can anybody help me out? I presently have the stock height with a 2" shorter lower unit.

i had one with a 2" shortened drive but it was still 3" below the bottom i know someone who cut the transom and raised everything 3 1/2" he also notched the bottom to match the notches on the outside sponsons the boat piched up a bunch if it was me i would put a 3" raised standoff box on it with the 2" shortened drive it should put the prop shaft even with the bottom of the boat this is what i was going to do if i would have kept mine
what kind of power are you running? and how much did you pickup with the 2" shorter drive? |
Thanks for the reply, I have a 572 Aluminum twin turbo charged aries chevy. With race fuel it will make 1600 hp @ 6500. I used to have a Blackhawk on it, worked fine, but I could not keep them together. I say them because I had two drives one on the boat and one in the shop. I was using a twin turbo 468 then. The boat would gps 126 mph with the blackhawks.

Have I seen this boat in Hot boat magazine while they were covering a shootout in Missouri? I have the same boat and am adding a blower. Would be interested to hear how it handles at the speeds you are running.
