Eliminator Style

I just saw a 26 Daytona equipped with ICC and a blower motor sitting on a trailer. This setup is one of the best looking single engine performance boats of all time. The canopies being split by a blower scoop on the engine hatch looks tough. I believe the power came from a carberated 800HP Teague motor. Eliminator knows to build a breath taking cat.

I own the same boat, same power, and would agree,i think it is the best 26footer out there.
Did you see the new carbon series 28 in the new hot boat, just plain sick

Chuckels,
Besides looking great how do you like your boat? How reliable is that 800HP Teague motor? Any drive problems? What type of gas do you run? Have you ever tried to ski behind it? How would you describe the ride: planing time, acceleration, rough water handling, turning, porposing at any speeds? We may try and buy a boat like that in a few years and I would like learn more about it.

Re: Eliminator Style

RJBBC,
The motor actually is not a teague. i was referring to the 800hp,its a 548 fuel injected bbc with a procharger making 5lbs of boost.
The motor is very reliable no issues, turn key, it runs on 93 octane.
The drive is an XR upper and a IMCO lower,no issues with that either,
knock on wood...I change the oil in motor every 10hrs, every 25hrs in the drive. The boat has a total of 75hrs , Ive had it going on 3yrs, its my first cat, I dont think i would ever go back to a v now.
Ive never tried to ski behind it ,ithink with a smaller prop you probalaly could.
The boat gets on plane really fast, no porpose whatsoever,it handles 2 to 3 ft chop very well.
I have 2 props for it , a 32 and a 34 bravo ones, it accelerates really hard with both, top speed is 110 on GPS with the 34 hitting the rev limiter.
One of these days i want to try a five blade prop to try to get a little more up top.I was actually trying to sell it, i had a family issue but it turned out to be false, its in the classifieds under 2002 eliminator 26 daytona.
I dont really want to sell it now , but if it does i was going to step up to a 30 or 33 , i guess ill wait and see what happens..

I second what Chuckels said, I have a 2001 26' with 1100 hp Procharger motor. The boat leaves little to deisre in this size boat and the looks are amazing with the blower scoop breaking up the lines thru the hatch. I have considered selling to move up to the 30' Daytona with twin 1000 hp motors for seriously fast top end. The 26 is actually 26 11" in length and they only changed the top cap from the rubrail up 4" to make the 27, same bottom, no porpoise, no blowout on takeoff. What a fantastic boat. I have pulled skiers with mine and had no problem, with a 32 Bravo 1, mine has a 1.26 gear in it so it will cruise at 4000 around 85 mph.

Whats the fastest youve been in yours, i have a 1.50 gear ratio , wanted to change to a 1.36 , also what octane are you running.

Re: Eliminator Style

Chuckels I really like the gear in my boat, I built it more for the fast cruise than I did anything. I have been 115 in mine and that was with the old setup of 1.50 gears. I had a problem with my intercooler this year and don't have one currently on the boat. I have limited my running to 6lbs of boost without it and no wide open till I get it fixed. My motor mad a best pull of 1122hp@5800 and 1100tq@4800 on the dyno. The motor is FAST fuel injected, which I really like now that have got it figured out. I add xylene at 15-20% to my fuel this year but have always run 93 octane without a problem. I have two 540's for my boat, one as a backup motor, and have seen no issues with detonation at all, with 93 octane and the intercooler. Previously I have added Cam2 race fuel at 5 gallons per side with 15 gallon fill ups in each tank, but have also done without it and seen no issues. I need $78,000 out of mine to ship it.

Now you guys have me thinking of which way to go on a boat. I've been looking for a cat for a few weeks now. I rode in my friends 28' profile a couple of weekends ago!(nice). The boat rode and handled great. I've brought it up about buying a 26' Daytona and a couple of people tell me to go at least a 28'. What I'm looking for is a quick boat that I can take to the lakes or rivers and also take on a few poker runs. Looking to buy a used boat. The Profiles I really like but haven't seem to find any with alot of motor. I see alot of 26' Daytonas with big H.P. I'm looking for something with at least 800h.p. I like power. I race a sand dragster with a blown-alcohol injected KB hemi, around 1600-1800 depending on tune up. In 300 ft. it will run a 3.0@ 103mph. Any comment or info on what you feel would be the pros and cons between a 26' and 28', Daytona and Profile and what H.P to go for would be very helpful!!
Thanks

28 needs a twin engine or outdrive will be a problem. Too heavy of boat. The 26 is actualy 26 feet 11 inches.

I have 26 bowrider & have a friend with a 28 tall deck bowrider. My 26 rides just about as good as the 28. Advantage of 28 is you have twin motors, when one breaks you can make it back on your own. 26 you will be towed. With 28 you will be able to go faster unless you go totally wild in the 26. The 28 is 27 feet & 11 inches so it is only 1foot longer but it is also 6" wider. I have been thinking of getting a 28 but I just can not pull the trigger due to the $ I would be spending.

I wanted a twin but could not afford it and insurance, so I boat a new 26 with the 525efi and I love it. Still want to upgrade next year on a twin engine cat.

I would like to hear more about the 28 Tall Deck with a single engine blower motor. You have made references that this setup will be susceptible to drive failures. Is there a Bravo 1 style drive: BMAX, IMCO XSTREME, or others that are built to sustain the forces behind this kind of setup? The 28 TD single engine is only 500lbs. or so heavier than the 26, so what's the problem?

call mike misplay at eliminator and he can tell you the weight difference. I have never talked to a person with a single engine tall deck 28 that had not been through at least two drives. b max and machine max. Eliminator told me that the 28 was designed for twins.

When I was looking for a boat I wanted to go the 28 with 1 motor. Talked to two people in Houston, One had just put a smaller motor in boat since he was tired of tearing up drives. Other was going thru drives. These were both many years ago before the Bravo X came out so maybe they will work today.

I was looking in may of this year for a boat. nothing has changed yet. I really like the 28 with the door but ended up with the 26 with the 525efi.

Re: Eliminator Style

28 TD, big power and a number 5 or 6 drive would be a sweet setup. I have a 25 with 570hp and a black hawk drive and it runs great but I feel I am at the limit of what the drive will take reliably. I talked to a guy who had 1100hp and a number 6 drive on a 25 but he lost a ton of interior space due to the transmission. Only thing between me and a 28 is BIG $$$$$$$ and insurance companies too. It will be sad if insurance forces us back to V's but I can almost see it coming. Only one company in Canada will take on a fast cat these days so guess where the premiums are going.
