New 30 Daytona W/ 496HO's

Hi Folks,

I've been wanting to head in the cat direction for some time. Today I finally visited with the insurance agent. Seems with my zero cat experience I'm limited to what I can purchase and be covered with. Apparently a 30 Daytona with HO's falls in the beginner catagory. I think I'd like new. I've found all available on here and boattraderonline.com. Anyone know of others? Please post a link if you do.

Thanks,

Neil

I just spoke with Jeff at schumaker performance about a new 30 with 496s that they have for sale. He is ready to let it go for a GREAT price since it is end of season. 317-862-3919. Jeff is a great guy to deal with also. good luck.

Looks like we have a similar past w/ v-bottoms.....

My way around the cat insurance deal was to buy a cheap 21' daytona (which i now have for sale) - with a little insurance time under my belt it was easier and less expensive as i truly had now not one but two cats insured (i recently bought an 06 daytona w/ 496's- and love it !!!)

BTW- Preston @ Horizon MTSP in Colorado was a great help with my purchase.

It's possible we talked. I've spoken to several people and not been very organized with whom I've talked. You have an incredible boat. Unfortunately I'm looking for a cuddy. Thank you. Neil

I really just need a place to crash with regard to the size of a boat. Big chop could be a problem but when it's not to rough it could be alot of fun... Running in the 90's with reliable power like 496's is pretty cool I think.

Diggin up an old thread....

My 30 is for sale, the Pantera has not sold and while the 30 is absolutely the best boat for my lake, the Pantera is a good all around boat and I'm happy to keep that- whichever one sells first will decide which boat I keep. Will do an ad soon. Scoops gone, hatch redone with headrests, a few upgrades since I bought it, 94 so far, has a few left in her:drink:

pstorti 07-20-2007 05:20 PM

I can't believe it! After all that searching you are going to sell it???

Want to buy a 28?? ha ha ha...

Well good luck on the sale it does not seem like boats are selling well these days.

Sweet looking ride. Hope the Pantera sells first but if not someone will get a nice 30.

Why was the power changed? What was the original power?

The original owner was in UT, built it with merc 525SC's (The 454 base blower motors with carbs) For whatever reason, when he sold the boat after one year he kept the engines (maybe for his next project??) and put in new 496HO's.

Anyone know what the 28 Daytona with HO's top out at?

ICC can crack 100 when all is right, the olded tall decks are heavier/slower/ abit different bottom but I thin would get into the low 90's??

Once you go ICC there's no going back (protection at speed)

I have a 2007 28' Daytona with twin 496 HO's - with Stock 4 blade Bravo props - no standoff boxes, and stock bravo drives with 1:36 gear ratio, I have topped out right an 100 mph a few times. I can run mid 90's just about any day that has less than 3 footers.

I have since put 5 blade labbed maximus props on and enjoy a much better hole shot but have hit 98mph once, and 96mph consistently.

I am quite pleased with the reliability of this package and amazed at how well the boat handles at every speed (especially in the 85 mph+ range - I've run some poker runs and maintained those speeds very comfortably for extended periods of time - but am actively considering options that will get me more speed - probably no surprise there.

Net- net - love this boat!

Is this your fist cat? What are you paying insurance? Layup, etc?
