Sweet spot on a 26' Daytona?
My 25 that I ran for 3 yrs seemed to free up around 55 or so, my 30 seems to be closer to 65, on a 26, at what speed does the belly release to give the optimum cruise? I realize fuel/passnegers have an impact. I'm figuring at almost 27' it's heavier but maybe packing more air too.

Thats the same thing I keep telling Him. Hell I even offered a place to stay and a free boat ride to go find you. Geez youd think the #1 rock crawler in the country would take a weekend off and head to the lake. :D JJ Ken, Good luck at Rockport. |

We have the best cruise at 80. This is with a pair of wackers though. I can watch the fuel flow on the Smartcraft stay the same from 70-80 as the hull starts to work. This is right at 5000 rpm. 5k=80, 6k=100, and 6850=112. Our '01 Daytona with the 575 didn't have a sweet spot. Best ever was 89.8 and that's with the Arizona Speed and Marine kit.............:angry-smiley-044: It always felt stuck to the water. |
The real sweet spot is in the drivers seat at ANY speed.:D

I am thinking around 53-55. I have not really paid much attention to this but when I bought the boat it had a 330hp 454 & was over proped big time wth a borrowed prop. I only took the boat out about twice with that motor. I had notice around 52-55 it started to really lift. That was about the same speed that the motor ran out out of HP also.
The 26 has a 8'6" beam. The 30 has a 9' beam so I am guessing the 30 can pack more air, but also has more weight in rear due to twin engines. |
