opinion- what power for best resale?

I'm considering repowering my 30' Daytona, yank and sell the low hour 496HO's.

The thought is to make the boat most widely appealing for resale. It won't hurt my feelings if I keep the boat another couple years and enjoy the upgrade but ulitmately, labor aside (I have the talent and time) I think in the end I'd recoup most of my cost, enjoy the boat more and appeal to a broader range of buyers. I don't live in fantasy land, but with this particular boat/setup, I don't think it's out of the question of viability.

I considered whipples or Raylar and while they are good products, not sure they carry the same universal resale appeal

so, I'm considering the following options....

Used Hp500's, stock, efi or carb
Used HP500's tweaked for approx 600 hp
Used HP525EFI's
New carbed marine mild 540's- like a bulldog, from a reputable shop/supplier, but not gold plated either.

all of these should be over 100 mph on a good day, some any day and not break the bank, be reliable.

Any wisdom?

525 Efi's would be my vote.
But we have had that discussion numerous times. lol.

525 or 500efis for me. I just happen to have a 525 and boat I would trade you.:D

Kenny Blue power sells better than anything else because it's a known product. Once you add blowers or custom power your market shrinks by quite a bit.

My vote 500 EFI or 525EFI

stock 500efi's or 525's for best resale. for the most fun and economical performance...a '502' base with roots blower and carbs....

I have the 05 w/ fuel injected blower motor's, that started a 500 efi's. I was bored doing 100+. I wanted that speed fix, but it seems to sell to the general boating market I will be going back to blue power 525's

How about 625 Vipers? My buddy has the identical Daytona as mine, he has 625 Vipers and I have Merc. 525's and he runs a good 15-20 m.p.h. faster

Merc 525 FTW

I think that removing the HO's and replacing them with anything other than 525's, Ilmors, or higher powered Merc products would be a mistake. HP500's and 540's while more powerful than 496's will always make a buyer wonder about who rebuilt them and how much life they really have left. With a 525 the reliability and power are well known. I have been trying to sell my 28 Daytona for 2 years and I think the problem is not so much the boat but the market. Nothing is selling, not boats, not houses, not cars. The only thing that moves is what is priced below market.
