1996 25 Eagle XP Trim Tab Length Recommendations?
 

I'm looking to get pricing on a set of trim tabs for my rig. I'm not sure on the length i should be going after. I can get a deal on a set that are 24", but that seems pretty big to me for a 25' boat. I don't want to get carried away. Looking for suggestions..........

I have set of 280-S K tabs on my 25,I don't think 24' is overkill,they come in handy in the rough.
Stay away from the cheapo's,such as Bennetts ets.
Dana makes a nice set of tabs...I've seen them on several Eagles in Havasu.

HP900's (17") are a standard high performance tab for the 25 Eagle. You can go with the HP1000's (24"), that's the tab that's used on the 30 Eagle (single engine models).

Depending on the speed and the usage conditions of your boat we can go over specifics. Mainly meaning the mounting location and the expectations of different size tabs.

When I called the factory about recommended tab for this same hull, they recommended the larger Dana tab, the 24" tabs are the right ones!

Go with the 24" Dana's. I used Dana's on my 25 Daytona, worked great, no problems.

If your running in the 80's,then big tabs are a must have...
Since the long tabs basically extend your running surface,seems like the 24's are a no brainer...
I don't really use TAB,until the mid 80's,at which point the boat starts to chine slightly...never run them below parallel with the bottom.

It just seems to me that a two foot tab back there would look huge............but what do i know. Tabs are new to me. I do have some chine right now. I top at 80 on the gps. I plan on getting the bravo 28 labbed and i've been told apprx. 2 mile per hour increase. mainly due to the fact i'm about 200 rpm low from where i need to be.

I also still have a steering cable to the transom, and then twin marine machine rams on the back. Just the add on system. The cable is shot and in need of replacement, so not sure if i should save money and go with a new cable and tabs, or full hydro steering................any thoughts on that?

Go ahead and put the full hydraulic system on. Not a huge cost compared to the benefit. I did this myself on a 27 Daytona and it was not complicated. Just took some time to do a neat and tidy job. You will not be sorry that you did it. It will give you better control, which is needed in that hull above 75.

Any boat running over 80 should have hydraulic steering. Not only is it safety to you but others boating around you. Trust me i have been there when the steering has let go not a good thing.
