Shue what is the prop shaft height in relation to the bottom of the sponsons on that Bud boat?

I would go for the 28 if you have the money. Keep in mind though that the 28 is twice as much as the 27 with the same engine. I had a 25 for a short while and I can say that the 25 I would never take out in the waters that I have been in in my 28. Forget about any single 28 though. Too many problems with the drive to be a good running package. It's just too heavy of a boat and by the time you put the 800+ hp in there that is needed to get the boat in it's sweet spot, it would be comparable to buy a 496/XR combo and run similar numbers with much more reliability and be able to run low octane if you need to.
As someone brought up, I also agree that 28 and 30 foot Daytonas with twins are hard to get on a plane when they are setup with the high x dimension that is needed to make the big top speed numbers with smaller power packages. I have been having problems with mine, although I haven't installed a tunnel tab yet (this week hopefully) and don't have cavitation plates, which I understand will help a bit. Recently, I talked to an owner of a 30 with 525/XRs who told me that he just plain can't get it on a plane without a tab. It gets worse when you prop the boat for good numbers. You won't have to worry about this at all with a single 27. It will pop up even fully loaded which can put you out in front at the card stops. |

Hey guys awesome site you have here.
Looking to get into a Eliminator within the next year. My friend has a crazy 27 that he is getting 110+ ever since a ride in it I’ve wanted a cat. Here is my question, what would be the better package for reliability, fuel consumption, and great top speed. I know those 3 things don’t work that well together but I’ve found that cats are pretty good at making at least 2 of those work out. So is it better to go with a 27 single high HP or a 28 w/ lower HP twins? Will a high HP single go thru more 90+ oct. gas, then twin 525s? Hope this post even makes sence:party-smiley-004: Thanks I have some info you may be interested in regarding your questions on Eliminator boats. Did you happen to go to the Harrison Lake Poker Run?? PM me and I will fill you in. |
28 TD W/Twins
Hello,
I'm new to these forums, been lurking in the back ground I have a 28 TD for sale with twin SB Chevy's 383 wipple charged ,full hyd.steering ,cockpit liner and other options Agreat riding and running boat, Don't buy a 28 with a single you will not be happy with the performance or the dependabilty of a high HP single My 2 cents worth, Thanks, Lin |
