28 daytona
Anyone know what a 1999 28 daytona weighs? What's the hp/top speed ratio on this hull, approx? Slip %?
How fast would you expect this combo to be: 1999 28 daytona, 540ci with 12-71 blower, brodix aluminum heads, 8.5lbs, bmax 1.3 drive, and 28 bravo? At 850 hp around 100 maybe? Goin for Elim number 2, hopefully...Thanks |
If its a td I would guess 80-85 and 2 drives a summer.:drink:

Back in 2000 I was only wanting a single engine cat & to go over 100. There were a few 28 around then. Everyone said the same as GS, 85 & tearing up a lot of drives

I would think with a BMax it would last a little longer. The boat should weigh in the 6200-6400lbs (depending on interior and such). Mine has twins and its a little over the 7300 mark but I have a ton of stereo equipment, blowers, etc.
I would say everyone is pretty close. Boat might run 90mph. A buddy had a 99 28 Daytona with a 1000hp motor and it ran about 102mph. As far as top speed for the hull. That all depends on the power. I have been 127mph so far with 3 people in the boat. The 99 TD's are much heavier then todays 28's, but ride better in my opinion. |
26 ICC then?
So how would a 26 ICC handle some bigger waters? I don't mean offshore, but say Grand Lake in OK? Can you boat on most holiday weekends safely with this hull? My 25 eagle gets pretty unbearable on the big weekends out there! I know you couldn't go 100 but can you get 60 or so?
Will the 26 ICC handle larger waves better than the eagle? Do you think for a rough lake I should go ahead with the twin 28? Don't want to be having planing problems though, that would suck. |
Thanks
Ended up buying the 26 ICC, and it handles big water fairly well. Well, at least MUCH better than any small vee, and we were fine on grand on Labor day..just had to watch the rollers so we didn't air out 10 feet, lol.
