140 in older Daytona 33?

Looking to get to 140 mph in my 1999 Daytona 33? What power do I need to get here?

MJT 12-27-2008 07:28 PM

I had a 99 33 Daytona that Hadley Performance Marine built a pair of 598's with 14's and chillers. The boat would run in the low 140's.

What type of power were they making? What drives were you running? Thanks for insite!

Dyno at 1020hp and 1050lbs of torque, drives were xr bravo at 1.25, merc 36" props or labbed 34" (both 4 blade). Ran the boat with 2" imco shorties but performed the best at standard drives with 36's. The acceleration on this boat was unreal. The 33 I owned was a single step bottom which was achallenge in itself. The person you need to talk to is on this forum under khadley very good with the set up on these 33's (power, drives and etc.). This is the same boat that fastboats has for sale in florida.

1150s and 138 BIG Daddy , that monster tab and porpouise on those 33s will hurt the slip #s:ernaehrung004:

she ran 112.8 out of the box with 500 hps,

Wow! I'm surprised you needed that much heat to see 140mph. In my 36 I've seen 124mph with 625 HP's....I was thinking that 900hp would get a 33 around the 140 mark. Must be that ny newer 36 hull (with more steps) is a bit more efficient than the 99 hull.

Scott 128 mph was the best with 1000s and Imco sc drives , and after Eliminator in Mira loma rolled her over and redid the bottum and added the inserts :ernaehrung004: did you get the tab on yet ????????????????????//

RunningHOT -if your'e referring to me - my 36 came to me with the tab - and yes I do use it.

FYI Runnin hot new 33's dont have an air tab nor do they need one. Noticed that you love to bash Eliminator as much as possible. no popoise 139mph 700 mercs. not saying there wasnt a porpoise problem to begin with but the hulls have changed since you had your issue.

What gear ratio and props are you running?
do you have a new 33 w/ 700 mercs?
sounds like a good mph for that package.

a porpoise problem to begin with .... I would say so BIG Daddy even after pulling the motors, & 2 trips back to the factory in mira loma to roll it over and redo the bottom and add the inserts Thane designed still a porpouise MOFO ... even with Brent L on the sticks brought it back to the dock at Elsinore and shook his head :ernaehrung004::ernaehrung004:
22% slip was phuchin pathetic man :cool-smiley-026:

Not bashin bro tellin it like it is , and everything was suppose to be taken care of but the shipping instead things changed ..

1.35 gear 40 pitch 5400 on the revlimiter. Runs 131 with the 39s alot better midrange 6 guys. Props are Merc. CNC 39x21r x 16.25 135mph and 40x18Rx16.50 141mph. The 40s handle strange and wont get on plain with a full load so we run the 39 most of the time.

B BOATER 02-02-2009 12:59 PM

I have heard that Tony was going to try another hull with 1.24 gear for better top because we are having problems finding big enough props that we can still get on plain with.
