28 Daytona with twin S.B.'s???
 

Anybody have any expereince with a 28 TD with Twin Small Blocks having EFI / Whipples? I am looking at one for sale and really don't know how good the hole shot will be and what the rpm's will be like not having the torq of big blocks! The boat seems to be set up right but I'm concerned about the power! They say it runs 105mph with 2 adults and 1/2 full fuel! I just sold my 35 Lightning and am very excited about getting back in an Eliminator, just want to buy to soon or something that I won't be happy with. :party-smiley-004:

cat & mice had a 28 with 800 hp small blocks. He said boat ran way faster then he cared to go. He is a member on this site.

Thanks for the reply as it seems there are very few boats out there powered by small blocks, or nobody seems to have any experience with them! I really see no reason why it wouldn't be a fairly good setup when you think about how much abuse a built small block will take. I just thought someone could give me better direction through their experiences.

I have an 01 28TD with twin 350 whipplecharged. I have only had the boat for this last season and am still getting things sorted out (the motors were built and tested and then the boat sat for 3-4 years), but it runs 86 now with 28 bravos and 1.36 gears. I think it's the perfect blend of performance, looks, comfort, and fuel economy for the money for where I boat (LOTO). I think that with a few minor changes (props and boost), I will be into the 90's and if I add a box I will be close to the century mark.

look at it this way... Small blocks maxed out to run 100 or go with stock power big blocks and run close to the same on STOCK power.

I agree more power does not always mean you burn more fuel. The trick is not to use all the power you have (not always easy). My Eliminator is very easy on fuel if I cruise around at 60MPH, It's when you step it up that you can realy tell that you are useing more fuel.

Mine was a Low Profile and lighter then the TD. Even when I had my 6.2L with Whipple it went plenty fast. If I remember it went 130mph with about 650hp. Then went 149mph with 800hp. One of the nice things about SBC is that they rev higher so you can run a smaller prop to help with the bottom end. Mileage was very very good. With the Whipple's they made great power on the bottom, it always seemed to have more then enough power to get on up.

It could even be mine that you are looking at.I love the boat but my wife and kids like the comfort of our new 370SS Formula
As far as planing the boat planes and out runs my buddies 30 Daytona with HP500efi's
