No I wasn't surprised to see the picture. I knew this girl had been around the block a few times and I certainly knew I was not her "first". But I am her keeper. No, the vacation was a disappointment in that I never had a chance to drive this boat in Havasu at all. As a matter of fact, I have only had 10 mins of seat time in her out in Portland. Was in Havasu for 8 days and did not get a second of seat time. I personally thought that s_cked. This weekend, we have a kickoff party at our local lake and that will be the first time I have not been a passenger in this boat. I never feel comfortable as a passenger just like I can't ride on the back of a motorcycle. Things could have and should have been different. "And that's all I am going to say about that".

The 25 in the photo with the 36 has a Teague 800 and would do 110. I got the 36 to open it up once that day and he walked away from me pretty good. Don't know what the top speed was but it was running good that day.

No, we left Havasu on Friday and got back to Atlanta 3am Monday morning. I never heard from you while we were in Arizona. That is the coldest water I have ever seen in my life. When you stop, you burn up and when we ran, we froze. Typical desert. I wish we had the chance to be there later in the year, but I am glad to be back on the East side of things. I grew up in the desert out west and I forgot how much of nothing there is in that part of the country. That was the most boring drive I have ever made.

Dan,
Sorry to hear things didn't wook out in AZ for you. Look on the bright side, it sounds like the boat is running well and the warm weather is moving in! Congrats again on the new boat and truck! |

You were so right about these 36 Speedsters! I love this boat and the way it chops through rough water at 100mph. The same conditions would put my 28' to the shore. The props are 40 18 16 and a half. It runs 131 to 135 mph and I am hoping the Herrings I am waiting on change this some. If I just stab the throttles it will break loose but it planes quick and accelerates quickly. I fell in love with boat all over again after some seat time in warm weather. By the way, my boat is also labeled a Coupe on the dash? I guess they played loose with that name. Thanks, Dan
Wow! Swinging 40's? I'm only swinging 34's. Is your 40 a 4 blade, 5 blade, or a clever? What Herring's did you order? |

Dan With 5 blade labbed 34's I've seen 123mph a few times in ideal conditions (ie cool, no humidity and slight chop). However, with the labbed props, I would throw a blade about every 20 hours due to the high xdim on my boat. So, I've been running the same 4 blade stock merc 34's for 3 seasons without any issue, but only seeing 110mph-118mph when running those....but I don't have to deal with the blade throwing issue. |

Our hp's are not much different. I wonder why you can run such a small prop without hitting rev limit. I tried 36 and 38's and had good mid range but hit rev limiters at 117 to 120mph.

Great pics Dan,, I love the back of the Extreme Trailer and the way its designed around the Drives/props...
Looks Great!!! |

Thanks Steven. DS is getting close. I bet it is a zoo out there now with spring break. Lots of thongs and pasties. I could not believe the pasties/thong stores right next to the bridge. My kind of clothing. (Not for me to wear)

You could be right. I have a 1:5 ratio.
1. My gear ratio is 1:36 2. My Rev limiter is 6150 (or right around there) 3. Our x-dims may be slightly different. I ran 36 4 blades (I still have them as a spare set), and just couldn't get the revs up in a timely fashion...took tol long to spin up. |

By the way, we are setting up our summer schedule for poker runs and your conversation with me that day helped me decide to take off work those weekends and go to these runs. The anticipation is killing me and I can't wait till next month to get started. Thanks again! |

Steven, I was getting plenty of girls before I had a 36' coupe. The trick to girls is all in your words and actions, not what your drive or boat in or how much money you have. You will figure it out someday, but trust me, it's all in the words. By the way, you wouldn't want any of the women a 36' Skater would attract (that was just for Bill).
Within the first 15 mins of me tying up in the cove w/my coupe in havasu I had a marriage proposal. She was very easy on the eyes (OC chick), roughly 30% of her 95lb body weight was silicone, and while her IQ appeared to be smaller than her bra size - I wasn't interested in having her do my taxes or anything - I just don't think my wife would have been as amused as me and my crew were. When I was out there the season before last with my rig, one of my crew likened it to "fishing with dynamite". It was one of the most entertaining vacations I have ever had. He was single and took full advantage of just about every opportunity that came his way. I will always have fond memories of Havasu. Being surrounded by Vegas, Phoenix and LA, the caliber of talent was consistently impressive, and the girls were hot too :-) Havasu is truly unique. There are very few inland water events that seem to draw the caliber of boats and scenery similar to Havasu, especially during Desert Storm (ie maybe LOTO, and Lake Cumberland, etc...). I love my boat...but man some of the rigs that you see at these events still leaves me w/boat envy. |

While this may be true...tooling around in a spanking rig doesn't hurt.

Not many people will have seen your set up and there will be tons of enthusiasts sharing your passion that will want closer looks, etc.. Depending upon your willingness to run in salt water, you may even want to consider the Poker Run's America season opener at Fort Meyers/Cape Coral. It's a lengthy run that you can stretch out on, in open waters, that typically has a very "cat-friendly" chop. Looking forward to hearing your perspective on your first run. |
HAHA.... i love reading everyone's thoughts.....
Dan, what poker run will be your first this year?? Do u think you'll launch in the salt w/ the extreme trailer? members on here tell me those steel, painted trailers really get chewed up w/ the salt...? |
Right now, it looks like the Chattanooga Tennessee Poker Run. This is beautiful piece of the Tenn river and many years ago, our old Atlanta Hot Boat Club had a run there. We had no poker, but we everything else and had a great time. We do plan on some Florida runs and no PokerRun 388, I have lifting tabs on my boat and I would use a crane. We want to go the Destin run and one in Jacksonville.

Dan,
I have some questions on your former 2004 28' Daytona with twin 496HOs that you traded in on this. Can you give me a call. I tried to PM but was unsuccessful. Thanks, Shad (310) 403-8205 cell |
