should pick up a 3-5 mph, down side is itll make the boat feel looser. Also getting on plane will be a bit different.

on the boat my friend had 24 pnd it gained 2 mph and you had to feather the throttle in to get it to plane id leave it alone and get more hp or prop work. just my 2 cents

My 27 with 900hp,propshaft level with lowest point of outside sponsons.Could say it does 120 but the fastest i've seen is 110 1.27 lower and 34 bravo.
At that height though you will need a cav plate to get it out. |
thanks for the input guys. im still on the fence on what im going to do. i figure i would need a 5 blade to get it out. my buddy has a 25 LP and he put a shorty on his this summer and picked up 3-4mph but had to go with a 5 blade to get it on top the water. i measured where the drive is now and its about 3" below outside bottom sponsons...... "CLA" what power is in your 25?

I've got a 2" shorty on mine and love it. I run a 32 bravo that greg at cutting edge did for me and I have no problem getting out of the hole with 7 people and fuel tanks of fuel. Mine with 950 horse will run around 115 any day of the week. Hope this helps.

New owner of my old 2001 26' Daytona tried a -1 shorty to his boat and picked up 5-6 mph from 94-99sometimes 100mph with around 700hp on tap @5600 according to his dyno sheet. He then purchased a 2" shorty from Imco and picked up another 4 mph to 104. I think the drive must have been buried in the water pretty good though, because the boat has no issues coming out of hole at all with the -2, turning a 28P with a 1.36 gear @5900. It felt like it freed the boat up.

On a center pod style cat with a deep bravo what is faster ? A 2 inch shorter imco or a blackhawk ? I wanna try both on my 22 Talon apx. 750 hp. hf...
