28 Daytona Build

Hey guys, I just picked up this 2003 28' Daytona that was derigged by it's previous owner before it was repo'd. Unfortunately he took a few things of very little value and will be a PITA for me to figure out how to put it back together. I"m going to need some help along the way. That's where you come in.

Here is how she looks today. I will get some more detailed pics of the dash and the engine compartment tomorrow with my DSLR.

Everything from the dash was removed with the exception of the throttle/shifters and the hydraulic helm. If anyone has a '03 28 with twins that is willing to share pics let me know. I think that that will be my best bet to figure out this jigsaw puzzle.

Here is a pic of the dash. I have labeled what I am guessing it right based on a quick online search. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Also there is space for 4 more gauges next to the throttles on the starboard side of the boat.

Here is the closest thing I have seen to what I am working with:

That sucks when people strip boats like that knowing they are going to be repo'd. If that isn't premeditated I don't know what is! Maybe you could call Bob Leach@ Eliminator & give him the hull # to see what the boat was originally equipped with. Randy

You'll probably need to cut a couple more holes in it for boost gauges...

Let me know when u give up..... I would love to have a project like this! Good luck hope you finish it.

Looks like a tilt rack/cable helm to me?

Precision 08-07-2013 06:16 PM

Cloud, it is tilt yes but deffinatly hydraulic. Why he left an expensive helm and the shifters and throttles but took the fuse pannels is beyond me.

Probably because he didn't have the right tools in his stolen craftsman box or didn't have the time before the repo men arrived. Either way at least you lucked out on a couple of spendy items. Did he cut the hoses or take the fittings loose? What about the wiring? Randy

I saw this boat for sale on Ebay last week are you rigging or selling it?

Possibly both. ;-)

RickyDanner 08-29-2013 09:35 PM

Might I ask what it was going for on Ebay?

Precision 08-07-2014 11:25 AM

Well with my Fountain build wrapping up I have been able to make some progress on the Daytona. I was able to get the wiring cleaned up, the boxes mounted.

I also decided to just go ahead and take a few hours and put a fresh coat of paint in the bilge.

Precision 08-11-2014 07:13 PM

Bilge paint complete, mostly. Had to order another gallon of BilgeKote to finish the last coat.

Gauges all in and wired. Just waiting on all the switches, GPS, and fuse blocks.

Nice job. There a switch panel on ebay for this right now. I think it's blue too

Precision 08-19-2014 08:01 PM

You have got to be kidding me! Eliminator just shipped me a new one an hour ago at 5X that price. Sigh....

Very nice find even if stripped. Is this your first cat? I look forward to seeing it after your done rigging it.

jeff32 08-20-2014 06:20 AM

There is one with similar side paint on eBay but it is a 36 warlock

I don't think I've seen this 28 on eBay last week!

Yes, this would be my first. I was going to put a set of our LS twin turbo motors in it with my ASD7's, but after the tragedy that happened last year I got a little gun shy and decided two 900+HP bullets is probably not what I need in my first cat.

Switches are in and work! Almost feels like I'm over the hump.
