Eliminator Eagle 28
 

I'm considering purchasing a used Eagle 28 and dropping in a fresh 800 ProCharger big block. Does anyone reading OSO have any personal experience with this hull? If anyone knows about an available boat, preferably one with a cuddy bow set-up.

They run good! You should run 90 without a problem. I have a 250 with approx 800 HP and it goes better than that. It can be a boat to drive though. Not scary but a part time job. Greg

What year are your looking at? Mines a 94 (non-step)with about 750hp and it runs around 80mph. I could get some more out of it, but 80 is fast enough.....for now...

Thanks for the response. What habits does it exhibit that make driving it a part time job. I've got tons of time in an Allison bass boat, and my current Concord, both of which require your talent and full time attention at speed.

How does the boat handle big lake slop?

With the stepped hull on the newer models you'll definitely pick up a few mph though. The 28 Eagle isn't a "deep"-vee hull, so if your looking at spending a lot of time in the big chop...I'd look at a different boat. 2-3 ft is okay, but anything over that gets pretty rough.

TM if you can drive an allison then youll be alright. That little wobble starts and you have to be awake, you know the drill. It does handle the water better than I had expected although the boat seems to slide up on the waves and shoot straight off of them. It doesnt really pound you though. 3 footers are big no matter what.
