Re: 27 Project
Good for you the boat looks like it is in pretty good shape. I always loved the 27. I remember 2 from Lake Winni years ago where I do my summer boating but haven't seen any in a long time. One had twin OB's and the other had a single BB/TRS. If I remember the 27 had a 7' beam on it that made it look really long and sleek.
What are you planning for power? Good luck and keep the pics coming. |
Re: 27 Project
Actually the beam at the transom is only 6'6" but gradually gets wider towards the middle of the boat around 7'. I got a stock 502 EFI for now. I have no idea what speeds I will see, any ideas? Anybody?

Re: 27 Project
Hey you 27 fans,
My shop is just finishing a 27' speedster 1985. We took out the transom, stringers, strake reinforcements and then went in and planed down evenly with the same process as used for bilsters on yacht hulls. Went vinylester,Penske board transom, Divinycell stringers, stainless fuel tank.I have the refit on CD. It came rigged with Merc 200's but we do this for a living and needed to express are feelings or need for speed ? I get those two mixed up. So on goes 1985 V8's.Orginal gel coat shines nice, brown/black w white deck.Takes you back to 1985. If you need info I be happy to help other 27's out. Thanks, Steve Barz |

Re: 27 Project
John, looks great.... whens it gonna hit water?
btw, could you have put the guages on the inside of the fairing? like the powerplays? |
Re: 27 Project
Storm I was going to but I wanted it as easy as possible. This way all have have to do is take out some screws and pull a plug and my gauges are out. Its been in the water a couple times but I'm having trouble with milky water blowing out of my valve covers. I think its time to make over the engine now!
