I have an Ex Cat. 1984 KAAMA. I run in Lake Superior and it handles big water great. Big waves you want a big heavy boat. I would say wave length is the biggest factor for mine. I can handle 4 footers and barley feel them until the length gets spread out. I used to run 500 hp and ran at 82 gps best. I am installing 750+ hp in it and expect mid 90's to 100 out of it. The biggest issue with this hull is the planing speed. Until I get to 50 it is a bit like riding a drunk 3 legged elephant. The KAAMA drives do not have a lot in the water for control at the lower speeds, but are a great alternative if you don't have the $for the other brand. Overall it is an easy one to drive and very stable at 80. If you are thinking of a purchase drop me a line and maybe we can make a deal if you are still in the market, but this is an older post so I'll throw it out there. Hope I answered your ?'s
