these were the driest running 27s ever made
as the lower lifting strake is wide and only 3" from bottom vee at transom
then the transom has a 8" notch to add bow lift
so they love to ride high and with a bit of bow lifted
I added a 35 gallon ballast tank in mine with a 15gpm transfer pump
which also gives me more fuel for poker runs
boat likes 10-12 in 1-2' and 15-20 in 3'+
to fly right angle over the rough
with tabs up and motor a tad above level
u have ur cabin blocked off so a belly tank in the walk path is where I put mine
with a acess cover flush with interior
also u can toss some ballast in the comode box
I run cleaver props for the transom lift with my set up
and control the bow with ballast
I have 0/bs so makes it different and I have cruise speed of 70+ 2' chop
but still they like some bow weight for cg
u don't run the hull flat as will want to bow steer
if was hoping then prop needs more grip to hold bow in higher speeds
if chine walking that is normal in narrow hull have to lift bow to ride on last bit of transom and seat time to steer through it
as 80+ in these hulls is all set up
as these are wave crushers more than high speed hulls'
I have gone past 100 and its a respect thing over 80 in light chop
when u find the right prop and cg hull it will feel like there is no boaat in the water,,,,lol
as there will be very little,,,,,,

Thanks for the help. I think I am close with this 28 LH Bravo. The hop was more on the rear. It felt like I was on the last couple feet of the lower strakes. It was bow high and loose. My first real time to let it eat. I'll learn how to get to 80 as is and then throw another 150HP at it next year!

they don't like slick glass for the reason of hull too dry at speeds
and tail starts to slide around as the vee is hunting
put it in choppy water and they go,,,,,
I have3 skegs to help hold the transom
and I made skegs 1" longer to help track on the rough
as my motors are above the transom ,,,in 12" boxes
so different set up as I have more natural bow lift
whats cool on these hulls is they have a heart of a larger hull in the rough
I can cruise 70-80 in water lots of other boats are slowing down
while smiling catching lots of air off the ship rollers in our bay,,,,lol

I finally got some testing done vs playing.

With 450 lbs of passengers and half tank of fuel I am running 75 at only 4900-5000 rpm still turning the 28P bravo left. That requires a fair amount of positive trim. With that, the slip numbers aren't terrible. I was suprised to look over the transom and see the drive shower not running water only to realize the splash plate was dry. The pickup is on the side for a RH prop although I never considered it making a difference. I'll flip and and try again.

My thoughts for a couple hundred more RPM are air to the engine first and then prop work. I'd rather not spend money on the prop if I truly plan to find another 100 or so HP over the winter.

I'd really like to run 80 as is in everyday conditions before I make a change. The bottom looks good and lower strakes are straight, uppers have built in hook.

Any thoughts?

a used 26 bravo prop is ur cheapest way to test to get rpms to come up
and minimum work

Did a little work over thr last few days to flip the drive shower, exhaust leak etc. While fixing exhaust I found it could stand a little more fuel. Only went up 2 jet sizes but picked up some speed. Ran the 80 number I was looking for today with 2 guys and running with some good white capping rollers. I'm good now, I can set it on 55 for the rest of the season and be happy.

The Bravo prop should like to carry the bow well. If you are running excessive positive trim the hook in the strakes might be fighting you.

I guess my idea of excessive with this setup is much over neutral. I have the trim ram pin spacer on the front of the drive which makes it nearly neutral all the way in. I'm not trimming over 2-4 clicks on the indicator.

Yes, the bow is carrying great. At good speed, I haven't seen a profile picture, but the feel is that it is ridding on its rear. Feels good!
