Question Sanded Vs Polished Bottom?

Im Sure This Has Been Discussed Before But Which Makes For A Faster Bottom- A Sanded Surface Or Polished. If You Think Sanded Is Faster What Grit Of Paper Would You Finish With? Anyone Have Any Facts To Back Up Their Choice?

When I pit crewed on a Wester Fomula Light Team(little 14ft tunnels that do about 80 with a 45HP outboard) we Painted are bottoms with speed coat(I know that line is just asking for it ) I don't have any proof either but we THINK it was faster. It's so hard to tell with those light little tunnels cuase the slightest diffrence in water conditions make a big difffence in a boat that weight 750Lbs with the dirver. the speed coat we used was called dry set graphite lube and had a metalic flat gre color when dry, it comes in a quart can or a rattle can. The quart only covers about 20 SQFT so buy plenty and 3 cans covers about the same as a quart. Also make sure you mix the stuff well and I mean real well before you srpay it.
