What type of costs are we looking at to repair a 31 foot Bullet Hull composed of Balsa, i know it is going to be very expensive, just wondering how expensive. Can you repair just secitons of a hull composed of Balsa?

thats a tough one. i dont know of any way of replacing a core without getting very involved. transoms and stringers are one thing but a core is next to impossible to replace. there may be a few quick fixes but they are nothing more than that. anything that you can inject into it is not controlable enough to be effective. how big is the area that is bad? an area the size of the engine compartment might cost as much as 10K without the transom an stringers.

my best advice for you is if you are sure the core is in bad shape i would seriously consider walking away from this boat. transom and stringers are basically ALOT of grunt work but certainly not outside the ability of a competent do-it-yourselfer. Core jobs on the other hand are very technicle.i always liked the Cig bullets, they have a great layout all the way around. is this a TRS boat or Brovo boat?

Its a Bravo, actually its minus engines and drives, but it did have the Bravos on it, how can i tell if the core is in bad shape or not, i did do a marine survey, but no core samples were takin or anything like that, just moisture readings with the machine. I hada quote from one guy who could replace all the balsa for about 10-14k, hetakes the whole boat apart tho deck and all, i figured if i could get this boat for 5k, and put 10-14 into it, i have a solid hull for 15-20k

diagnosing a bad core is tough without cutting into it. are you sure it even has a core? I don't really know the layup on those but i do know they are very heavy for a 31. price looks right if you aren't afraid of putting some sweat equity

the hammer test came back sound, everythng seemed tight, the meter read anywhere from 65-35, (0-100) spotty, could an all fiberglass hull have readings in the 65's? I'd love to find out what it is, as for now ill just keep my fingers crossed its glass

I replaced the Balso Core on my Hydrostream. That was a very small boat however and it was doen from one end to the other. Quite a project.... i am not sure if a Bullet is cored.... you may want to find that out.
