Paint Is Lifting Please Help!!!

I am in the process of painting my out drives, Interlux Primocon and Nason enamel(with catalyst).

I shot them today with the enamel and they came out great, except for a couple of area's where it looks like the paint lifted(almost looks like it would if I put stripper on it). Any idea what caused this, all the primer held fine? Should I sand and respray? I don't mind doing it again but I need to know what might have caused it. I am thinking I may have got it to heavy in those areas?
Thanks For Any Help C

ya got some oil based substance on there or ya didn't mix the catalyst good enough. Could there be oil/grease on your air lines and have hit the drive?

Sure sounds like contamination to me too. Maybe a greasy finger print or two. Water or oil in your gun air? Someone spraying armoureall on the tires of a car a block away or the kid hitting his bike chain with wd-40. Could be anything. It happens

It sounds like if the paint was wrinkling up like a raisin, then the drives were previously "touched-up" with a cheap enamel rattle can. Is the back of the lifted paint the same color as the drives? If so, thats what happened. Sand it all over again but make sure your tack coat is light and flashes off til finger slick before dusting on the second coat. Let it dry the appropriate time before painting (don't want to trap the solvents) and paint 2-3 light coats of paint letting it flash between coats. Also, bleed your compressor and lines and use an inline filter to eliminate any invisible problems!

Thanks for the info guys. I gave it another shot and it came out sweet, I don't think I waited long enough on the second coat. :drink:
