Glad you came away happy.
Many years ago a buddy of mine had a Dodge van painted at Macco in Jersey. The van was painted in the fall and come spring the paint became tacky. He could leave hand prints anyplace he touched it. Took all summer to cure.
I'd like to think they've gotten better since then.

Any pics yet? I just picked up a 26' Corsa and I'm debating what to do. I just need to reshoot the hull white to match the deck.

I had a car painted by Maaco in Toms River. Paid extra for the better job, sanding, prime, paint, doing inside the door jambs. Picked up the car and it looked great. After a few weeks I noticed the old paint showing through on the front end where stones and sand hit it. Started to wonder about the prep work so I took a screw driver and ran it along the car. The paint flaked off in huge pieces. Underneath was the original paint, still shiny. No sanding, no primer.

I'm thinking of taking mine to maaco too since i thought i was hiring 1 of the best. The high prices in my book didn't get me anything except a 18 month headache and have to strip the boat down too gel and re-do the whole boat.just my 2 cents and that all i got left after my friend painted and cleared my boat.i'm glad he was my friend or i really would of got screwed.

Hey Rich, if it's that bad and you're willing to trailer, I can hook you up with a great painter up here-first class work all the way.
He did this boat, and the paint has pearl in it, you would not believe how good it looks in the sunlight.

Re: Macco paint job, when the "best" is a waste of $
I have been considering this option as well- I am being told 80 to 100 hours of prep time( at $35 bucks an hour) just to get the boat ready to shoot. I am a firm believer in you get what you pay for but I am having a hard time just finding anyone that will even paint a bigger boat. My buddy just did my trailer, materials were more than the labor(350 in paint, 220 in labor) and stuff adds up really quick.
Post some pics and let us see how it turned out!
