Mix the gel & Duratec first then reduce if necessary. U can use mek or but acetone will work. A 2.0 head and hvlp is exactly what I use and u will have great results. Good luck & have fun. Yee Ha. Wet Sanding Rocks! Lew

I would get the MEK over acetone for sure. It is worth waiting for.

The best thing I have found to use is a product called duraglass made by evercoat. With the proper prep to the glass It works great. I recomend it for any repair below the waterline. Its a putty that contains short fiberglass strands so its really strong and bonds well.

spraying gel coat

yes you can easily spary it,but you need a big needle.one year i used mary cates hull cleaner,to rid the bottom of tanic acid from the st johns river.it leaves a brownish/yellow all over the bottom of my pretty white hull.once the mary cates was used it would eat if off instantly, after about the 3rd time it crazed the bottom below the water line.it was a classic 24' firefox cigarette.i ground off the bottom gel coat*wewh!!!what a job;and used a binks#7 spary gun with standard needle.the binks gun has a reputation of laying on the paint, actually to the point of wasting of it.it worked real well,i did not wet sand/polish.it looked so much better than before,
so i left it alone.it goes on real thick, and with that gun,it will spray it properly.hope this helps--terry
