Default Cutting foredeck off

I have to repair the soft deck on my 1876 banana. I was thinking about cutting the entire deck off infront of the windsheild then glassing it back together. I am also going to add 4 bulkheads throughout the cabin area. there will no longer be a cabin on this boat. What do you guys think about cutting the deck like this.

thanks

Josh

Default soft deck

Is the front deck balsa core. If so I have fixed this problem,on some big sportsfish boats. I used a small hammer to find out where the core was bad and THE SIZE OF THE DETERIORATION.I then marked it off in grids .Like a checkerd board.drilled a hole at all the intersecting lines put aceatone in thru the holes to dry up the moisture. You can blow air in to help the drying process. The balsa then turns to almost dust.Went to each hole with a shop vac. with like a suction cup small end, and sucked out the old balsa. Then used west systems put it in under pressure, starting at one end.As the west system flowed between the two layers of glass and got to one of the holes,I would plug that hole and continue along and do that to each hole that was filled to.When I was done the entire void area under my grid was filled solid with west systems. Then I patched all the small holes, sanded and painted the top cabin area. It is solid. They always have 4 6 people on the bridges, worked great.Seamed a lot easer than cutting the roof open. In your case the deck off. That's just how I did it might be other ways.JOHN
