Has anyone finished an engine comparment and hatch from rough layup? I would like to finish and paint mine. What would be necessary steps and how complicated?Attachment 373163

What do you mean by finish? :)Are you wanting to repaint the bilge.

Yes. Would actualy like smooth finish similar to Gelcoat. Current surface is rough layup with that old style splashed color on it.

Ditto, you could use imron too. I'm working on repainting my bilge now using awlgrip which can also be shined up, but gelcoat would be the best. Awlgrip is just A LOT easier to apply.

Have you started sanding yet? If so, how does it look so far? Was are you considering for paint?
