Another option is to make a plywood mock up and use that to shape 5/8 or 3/4 " aluminuim plate. Weld it up, grind smooth, polish, powdercoat or paint. your done. Have the pieces laser cut to save time. i am only a half ass welder and i have done two like that and they are sweet. the only thing I found to be a problem is powder coating black. We had peeling. I think it was from heat and cold metal movement.
