Buffers?

Hey guys!

Looking for some advice here. A buddy of mine is looking for a good, high-quality, professional buffer that is light weight. Light being the operative word here. He does mobile marine detailing and some of the boats are in the water, so he regularly has to one-hand it, while doing so in some awkward positions. What do you guy recommend?

Thanks in advance!

Well they're not professional brand or high dollar. But a friend of mine buys the cheap harbor freight buffers. They do a really great job. He buys extra brushes and just rebuilds them when they wear out. He does marine detailing also. Very light weight also. I bought one for myself and it seems to do the trick.

If he wants a REAL buffer look up the FLEX. There is a thread on this site about them.

I have had those burn up in about an hour with compound. Some of the other tools from there work good like the cone drill bits and the 1/2 electric impacts. The buffers kind of suck.

There are some companies selling 3'' and 6'' buffers. Snap On being one of them, small buffers are always light weight and easy to handle. But they suck for large areas.

Thanks guys. I've got myself a Fein random orbit buffer which has been simply awesome over many years of service. It's my personal buffer, and I've put it through its paces, but it's heavy as hell. If he could find something of similar quality that's light, that would be the ticket.

Does anyone make an air driven buffer?
Wouldnt that be a lot lighter and safer for working around water for the inwater stuff ??

I have burned up a craftsmen and some offbrand before buying a Makita that is great, but you can't use it one handed.
