refinishing glass with oxidation, seat base, minor repair help needed aswell!!
hey everyone. im about to dive headfirst into my boat when i get back from florida, this weather down here has made me need to finish my boat within a couple weeks so i can enjoy the water up north as well. i have a 1987 22 velocity. the boats great, the stringers are still strong, not rotten.
there are small cracks in the gelcoat where previous hardware was, this was a common problem for most regal velocitys, so i was just going to sand with an 80 grit, fill than sand/wet sand these as well? next is removing all oxidation and decals, i want to strip the boat down, sand the entire hull after all repairs are made, and have the entire boat re-finished. now this is where im unsure....should i sand the whole boat down with a rough grit to remove all prior oxidation, and decals; than compound and polish the whole boat? is this the easiest route? i want the boat to appear with a gloss-like new finish, any tips on doing this? |
