what would you recommend I paint the bottom of the tanks with ? just want to minimize end of season clean up , we get zebra mussels up in lake st clair, I recently picked up this used unit & it had some type of coating on there

sorry, couldn't resist. these are metal tanks. there are anti fouling paints that are specific for each type of metal and salt content of the water. NEVER used left-over fiberglass boat paint with copper in it. check with manufacturers, google anti-fouling aluminum or steel. good luck. or just tow it behind your boat for a while. 100 mph should wash off all the stuff...

hydrohoist tanks are not metal, they are either fiberglass or plastic (HDPE?) with fiberglass caps. the older the unit the greater chance it has of developing pinholes near/under the bands. it's an easy fix if it does, but you may want to leave the tanks clean to make it easier to locate the injury. if you are set on bottom painting, make sure it is a hard anti-fouling and not an ablative (the lift won't be moving so it would get the chance to polish off the ablative).
