28' Cigarette Center Console Conversion

Here is a link to some pictures of my conversion of my 35' Cigarette Awesome into a 28' center console. There is a thread on it under Cigarette. I do have complete build pics from the last two years.

Looks good . . . . I take it ya got the gel to cure :D

Gel coat

Dave, thanks, I think that it was temperature related. I bumped the thermostat to 75 from 70 and the gelcoat began to cure more rapidly. Still not as fast as on a 80-85 degree day. Thermostats may not be as accurate as I have assumed. The gelcoats must be more temperature sensitive than the vinylesters, epoxies, and linear urethane paints that I used. Somewhat surprising. Bob.

Is that a single merc 250??

ren3 03-25-2013 06:46 PM

Single 250

It is a single. Hull with engine weighs less than 4,000 lbs dry. According to Mercury engineers I should be able to get close to 50mph wide open. If I was going far offshore I would have put twins on, but I am land locked with a 40 mph speed limit in Colorado. The hull has the original tank like bottom and sides, but I used a lot of Nidacore to
save weight without sacrificing strength. The hull is also completely foam filled with 8,000 lbs of positive flotation.

Thanks. Bob.
