My buddy had an all white TG painted for 20k. No cockpit, no transom but full paint on the deck, sides with a fairly complex design.

Is there a common type of paint that the pros prefer over another? Or is it just automotive paint?

most high end base clear finishes these days are very similar with the exception of some of the speciality products like House of Color. Its generally user preference and ability that brings it all together. I have used PPG dbc / DCU2021 for years with great results,

I will agree with Ryan that paint definitely pops and has a richer look.I just had my boat wrapped and im very happy. And for 2600.00 I couldn't even buy the paint and supplies for that. Here are some pics of before and after. But if I had the money I would have picked paint but the wrap will do for now.

I've used Standox in the past. I've seen nothing hold up as well (gloss, etc.) Although not recomended below the water line (no automotive coating is) it looked great for multiple years before I sold it.

I use Spies Hecker.(sister company to Standox)^^^^ Also great results. Its ok below the water line if you dont store your boat in water all summer. pull it out every week or air lift it on the dock. An dif your willing to drag it 10 to 12 hrs north i could do something on it for $15,000 to $25,000 depending on how elaborate of a design you want and the condition of the boat. 502 322 6531 in my ### if you want to talk about it.

Don't know the exact amount cuz I had other work done as well but it was in the 16-20k range for my 39. Had it done at the Velocity factory, they use House of Kolor exclusively. FYI they will work on any make of boat and do great work.
