Excalibur 24 rebuild

Yup bit the bullet and started cutting everything out, most likely this will turn into transom, stringers, deck, tank, and whatever else is found along the way.

love the old Excaliburs. lived next door to Bill Farmer for years, he was the owner of Excalibur and my dad was head of Chris Craft so we always had boats down at the dock we shared. good luck and keep the pics coming.

Yeah at least this way i know what i have, i find it really hard to tell the condition without cutting it apart, mine was bad though the trim tabs could have ripped off

Well im back at it again, ripped out the transom for the second time because of a hacked install. Its august, the weather is right i have some time off so im making my last run and finishing this thing.

Put in about 8 hours again to rip it out for the second time, got heat stroke the first day and puked though lol after about 5 hours in.

Started the grinding process today, and looks like i have about 10 hours of grinding ahead of me. Going down to the welding supply to pick up some high quality flap discs tomorrow morning, should make a difference.

My plan is vinylester resin, with corbond to bed the transom. Not sure if im using marine grade or not, might just go for cabinet grade?

Just use the marine grade, $90 a sheet at fairhaven lumber. Good luck with it. Good reasonable glass guys that can get things done in less than a year are turning into unicorns. I get my flap discs from harbor freight pretty cheap.

yeah **** the guy that did this, he slagged cabosil/chopstrand/thickened resin over the remenants of the old transom at the bottom that should have been ground out, so i have to grind through about an inch of garbage to get back to where i would have been the first time.

thanks for the tip
