Was just reading back through the thread... Wish I would have done that yesterday! I shot the last coat with wax. Shooting PVA over the whole thing would have saved me alot of sanding and plugged paper!

This is an awesome thread. I'm in the grinding stage on a 1996 Baja 208 Islander. I'm really hoping I can get this thing in the water by May with as much attention to detail as you've given this one. Mine's smaller, so hopefully I can learn fast.

I still love this thread and your impressive work!
Actually i build up a Monterey, but we are in the last steps, so i hope, i can start build up my 281 Maxxum too. I have a twin engine version, but i have to change it in single engine - Could you occasionally measure how big the distance of the transom to the keel is?

Thanks. I tink I can still get to the back of the boat...but I'm not sure what you distance you want mesured. From the rub rail to the keel? And I'm not sure but I think the stringers may be in different places for a single compaied to a twin also. Just let me know and I'll get the mesurments.

Yes, the stringers are different - i have to change much things, but its no problem. But important for me ist the X-Dimension or something else - i have to open the hole for the transom in the middle and close the both holes left and right from the twins. So i need informations, where i have to open it. You can give me the distance from the keel to the screwholes for the anodes for example. I wanted to insert a picture to explain, what i mean, but i canīt do this before i have 10 posts...

Gotcha... not real sure how to properly mesured the x dimension. But have 8" to the center of the bottom, of the lowest bolt holes, strait down to the bottom edge of the transom. Two other good references for that kind of stuff is Kunkles marine in Mansfield Ohio. They are THE Checkmate guru's. Don't be afraid to call the Checkmate factory either, they have always been willing to help when I have had questions.
