Dump Gun and epoxy paint

Anyone know if you can spray epoxy paint with a dump gun? In particular will be applying VC Performance epoxy

not sure that would be the gun of choice for that stuff, dump guns are very non technical and literally throw the material on. I am assuming it's a VC bottom paint? if so dump guns cant shoot vertical surfaces, best bet is a cheapie $49 dollar pressure pot gun from Harbor Freight.

OK thanks, guess I'll go have a look. Never have used one and bought the dump gun for my Chrysler Conquer project, one of these days I'll get back to it

Just looked up pressure pot sprayer, this is different then I thought. Should it be able to spray the VC without thinning? Interlux says 3 to 4 coats, and I have 4 gallons for my 27 footer, should have more then I need. Just noticed it says to use Interprotect Watertight between 1st and 2nd coat., and then 3 more coats. Ge wiz sounds like it needs a barrier type coat between the first two layers. My initial thought was to put 4 coats and be done.

Mis-spoke, the watertight is IF faring is needed

I just used this one to spray vinyl top adhesive for the carpet in my boat. The cheaper guns don't have as fine of a tip so they spray it pretty well.

Great thanks, will pick one up

Just talked to interlux, and found out I need some MEK, so just ordered 2 gallons for clean up and can be used for thinning if needed

just a suggestion if you are going to use a suction feed on a vertical surface, loosen the cup to gun fitting and spin the whole thing around so the tube feeds off the back of the cup otherwise it draws off the front corner and will stop feeding with about a half a full cup left

I'm going to get one of the pressure pot guns from HF, does it work the same way?

yes but better, its all i would use to shoot overhead. You just need to play with it a bit to get it set up right otherwise they can get away from you and dump a LOT of material on. With that HF pressure pot i tend to keep my finger on the first stage and keep the air bleeding so the regulator in the pressure pot can stabilize easier
