Removing painted stripes
What can I remove these painted stripes with? I started with acetone and it is working but taking along time and going through a lot of acetone. Since acetone is working sort of is there anything better and quicker?https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.off...29bb5d090c.jpg

I dont know how it affects fiberglass but we used to remove race car lettering with EZ Off oven cleaner. Took the lettering off without hurting the base paint.

Being frustrated with paint remover and the sloppy mess, I taped off the gel area next to stripes and wet sanded off. Wasn't all that terrible. 800 to get the heavy paint down and 1500 once the gel started to show. Finished with 2500 then buffed. It physically pooped me out but it was damn therapeutic!

Before tape became all the rage (or the new way of doing things) I saw plenty of old registration numbers and names that were painted on removed using EZ Off (or similar) but just to be clear , that was on gellcoat . |
I used EZ Off to remove the bottom paint off my previous cruiser. Didnt effect the gel whats so ever

Actually.....EZ-off will work but don't let it sit on the gel toooo long. Buddy was doing this on his 28 cig and took a phone call...not sure how long he was on the phone but when he came back and washed off the EZ-off it yellowed the gel....luckily it did wet sand out. :)
