Removing bilge pump pad
 

I am repowering my 22’ Powerquest, while the motor is out I removed the bilge pump pad that was delaminated. Just curious as to what would be the best way to blend in the spot in the keel where it was. Will post pics shortly. Thanks!

Are you wanting to replace the pad, or just make it like the rest of the hull?

Most glass jobs is grind all the bad stuff out until clean. Then make a pad to fit, and glass back in. If your going to use poly resin use CSM fiber, and tab in. If using epoxy resin can use plane fiberglass cloth or just the resin.

Just wanting to make it look like the rest of the hull. Have zero experience with glass/gel coat. In “layman’s terms” what is my best bet here?

If the bilge pump is not going to be re-installed there, just grind it clean. Mix up some poly resin and use chopped strand mat (CSM). Lay CSM from bottom up smaller to larger pieces. Sort of like this. Suggest using white epoxy paint to cover. If you want to use Gel it's can be done easy enough. Mix per instructions and use paint brush to apply. The layers can be applied all at once so long as every layer is soaked with resin

Thanks for the responses. It was just wet because I had simple green’d the bilge just prior to taking out the pad. I think I’ll do as Dodge suggested, just wanted to get it done before setting the new motor in place. Thanks again!
