My New 29 Canopy w/ Arneson Surface Drive
Alright....
I'm glad to see this forum finally got put up.
I just saw my boat for the first time today. It's a white 29 canopy with blue flames and an Arneson Surface Drive. I met mike down at the factory. Fit and finish is Awesome!!! Everything about the boat is well put together. The engine is a single 622ci blown adrenaline powerplant. It's making a little under 1000 horse and about 1100 ft lb's of tq. I have my fingers crossed for the 115-120 mph mark but more importantly with massive acceleration through the midrange and out of the hole with the arneson.
The engine is currently out and we're still waiting on the arneson parts but we hope to have the boat in the water next tuesday or wednesday. The boat was actually equipped with a bravo style drive but I had it removed so we could order up an Arneson (we've opted to run cleavers with the arneson as opposed to the bravo style props). Im sort the test mule here because Force has never used an Arneson and from talking with Rik at Arneson they haven't really done any larger single engine cats. After the meeting of the minds however, it was decided that it may be a marriage that will result in not only better reliability by virtue having a bulletproof drive, but added performance and better fuel economy (and a cool rooster tail). With the standard bravo style drive this boat saw about 110 with 2 people during testing. It will be tested with some various hering cleavers. Maybe we will get lucky and one will work, but if not, we'll know the specs that we should be ordering. Then by the end of next week she will be ready to head home to Chicago for the summer so I can get my own seat time before heading south to Florida

Pics please!
I agree, this is the setup "of the future" as fuel efficiency issues aren't going away, and single cats with surface drives are optimal for this. I've always wondered why more people don't do this setup, as it is what I'd run if building a new cat (or twins with arnesons if bigger).

Arneson Parts are in and ready to install. We should hopefully be water testing wed or thurs. So I will post some results then.
Here are some pics of the boat from the shop today, first is some of the arneson parts (the silver we had it powedercoated matches perfect, lucky guess I suppose). She's a little filthy from getting worked on but you guys will get the idea....
