I've got an '88 F206 LS with the 350 MAG (270 hp) through an Alpha.
I have the original prop that came with the boat, it'a regular 21" pitch SS Mirage.
With the engine turning 4800 rpm's it'll go 58 mph on the GPS. There are times it's tough getting out of the hole, depends on the load.
I'd love to try a Mirage Plus just to see what the difference would be.

Iggy,

If I remember correctly, the last prop we used on that boat (the 206) was a Merc Laser II. I think that was the only one of our boats we found worked better with a Laser than a Mirage. Do you want me to check it out for you?

Sure, I'd appreciate the information.
Now I'm curious as what the difference is.
Thanks for the offer.

The statement I made about my prop being the original was an assumption because of its age. Mec has made a couple of P/N changes since mine was built.
Current prop P/N is 13702-A40-21P.

I tried a number of different props on my last boat, the 211 Liberator with 270 hp mag motor. I found with that boat I could only run 4300 RPM with a 21 pitch mirage (14 3/4 I think). With the Laser II, I was running right up to 4700 55-56 on GPS (4800 before I put in baffles in the thru hull - got a citation for noise). I think the 211 had a little deeper V than a 206 (24 degree vs. 22), but I could be incorrect. You may find you run over 4800 RPM with a Laser II.
