Dash backlights

Does anyone here know where I can get some replacements for these tape style lights that backlight the switch names on my dash? They are dead and I can't see them at night.
Thanks all.

Mine seem to be a part of the switch and not changable. Unless of course you change the whole switch :(

Hold on to your pants when you hear the price for a new dash switch!!!!! Mine is an '89 vintage. Switches are some German friggin' thing that cost like 40 bucks each.

Is it the switch lights you're trying to show in the pics or the dash lights?

Re: Dash backlights

The dash lights are the white tape with the black and white wires in them. They are separate from the actual switches that do light up when turned on.

Eeeeeyup, those are the bad-boys I'm talking about. Pricey little bastids. However, I don't know if the lights (bulbs) are integral to the switch. Probably.

Tell you what,,,,,,,,,,, you just swap out all your switches for nice new, updated, stylish models,,,,,,,,,,, and I'll take all your old ones. :p

Thirdbird - All switch lights work fine (thank god). It is the tape lights that are behind the white writing on the switch panels that do not work...

Ooooohhhhh, sorry Powerguy, misunderstood.

Well, in that case, mine are shot too. Didin't even know I had those.

The whole dash light thing on these boats is junk! Friggin gages are dim, back lights don't work, etc. Just junk lighting-wise.

Well, you can't tell me you disagree, can you?

Re: Dash backlights

Nope, you're right Third. The old VDO gauges and the Kiekhaefer trim indicators are some hard to see with the dim red back light. If all goes as planned, I won't be looking at mine much longer. Could be sold this week! :evilb:

You can get LEDs cheap at Radio Shack and a small resistor cheap to run them on 12v. You could wire up a set and then glue or tape them behind the letters and they will light them whatever color you want. I am doing blue in the trim and drive indicators to match the blue lighting in the Gaffrigs.
