Shore Power
 

I am wanting info on how the shorepower works, what switches to be on etc and how to tell if it is on for sure. I have found the control panels and played around a little but not sure of how it is supposed to work any help would be great Thanks Oh bye the way it is on a 272 of 89 vintage

I have an 89' 311 SR1.

First, make sure the 110 volt circuit breaker is OFF.

Then plug in your shorepower. Then turn ON your 110 volt breaker.

Then try something that works off the 110 volt circuit: battery charger, fridge, a 110 volt outlet maybe?

At least that's what I did. Mine works. :drink:

My 292 an '89.

Ditto what Formula outlaw said. My Shorepower plug in the Port side gunnel storage.

Yeah, I remember when I went looking for the "plug in" took me 20 minutes to find the damn thing....:rolleyes:

Imoved my Shore Power plog so I can see it--put it on port blkhead right in front of rear seat base. Also installed similar plug with canle TV and telephone plug and ran wires to cabin closet in case marina offers cable tv and for satellie dish connection in slip.

Make sure you install a Galvonic isolator in line espescailly if boat is in water even more than over night. I can tell you from a $20,000 experience with galvonic action in marina that took less than 6 weeks to take occur.

Thanks for the help. It only took me 2 days to find the plug. I was confused about wheather or not to leave the 12 v side turned on while using the shore power. I don't have a plug in the cabin, reseved for the bigger boats I think. I did hear the batty charger humming do figured that it was working. The frig. is only 12 v the best I can tell as I can't fine any switches in unit to switch. Probley the only time I will use it is to charge the batterys but I still want to know how it all works, thanks guys

FYI---My refridge is 12V/120V and autosenses which power sources it has.

I found a 120V outlet on port side in cabinet bewteen AM/FM radio cabinet and electrical panel cabinet. There was also a 120V outlet on starboard side on top of countertop.

Call Formula tech support and have them send you a wiring diagram. It will explain how things are wired, how switches should be set based on what you want to do, and what circuit breakers control what. There's also lots of useful info that comes along with the diagrams, like drains, plumbing, etc.
