I like it clear.

I like it in the pictures with no tint but I have seen them in person with tint and like them better that way. I am taking the tint off mine and I like it much better with out it, however my windows are the square ones. My girlfriend likes it with the tint much better.

No tint
Love the boat

I like them both, did the tint affect your ability to look through the glass any? (good or bad)

No tint, great boat

That picture I tinted the windows in photoshop to see what it would look like. What do you think?

I tinted the windows on my 312 and it made it look like a whole new boat.....but I did it on that one since it made the dark gray dash a lot cooler to the touch. If I did it to this boat, it would be pretty much a cosmetic change. The graphic design does contain a black stripe in it so it might look pretty bad-ass along with the polished stainless windshield frame. Since I went with "LIMO" black tint on the 312, it was fairly difficult to see through, and really hard at night.

Thanks for the comments and the input......still not sure.

I like the tint. I've been thinking about tinting my 357. Thought I might the only one thinking about this stuff. How much did it cost when you did the last one? I assume you did it with film so, how long does it last before it shows wear?

mfb357 10-06-2001 11:10 PM

Tint,Looks sharp. I have no windshield on my 357 just a windscreen(black). Gives it a different look.

Cigwillie 10-07-2001 11:18 PM

Tint. Definitely.

tint

unless you boat offshore at night with the top up.
I can see why some like it clear. I have no windshield. I just lower the deflectors when I cannot see through the tint.
Don't go limo dark do about a 35% or at most a 20%.

Tinted looks cooler to everyone else, but I think it’s a pain at night or dusk. My last boat had a tinted windshield, and I probably wouldn’t do that again. Since you’ve done it before, you know about the running at night stuff, so it’s up to you. I think it might hurt resale a bit. It does look good though…

So far........it's about even to Tint or Not to Tint. Packin Heat- I think the 312 cost me about $500 for the tint to be added, maybe $550. It's been on there 2 years so far and still looks in great condition. Obviously you only use water to clean the tint side of the window, never any cleaners like Windex. Bill272.....as far as resale goes, it's certainly not permanent and can be removed pretty easily. Besides, probably won't be selling any time soon. Thanks for your opinons!!

Have a great day!

No tint.
My wife and I were discussing this yesterday, and we saw a 18ft+ Regal that had tinted glass. It looked cool, but we both agreed that it would be to tough to drive at night if you had to be seated and having to look through the windshield.

Tint :D especially with the colors on your boat.

I just saw the pics you have of your 312 for sale. Now that's some dark tint... what is it, black epoxy???

After looking at the pics again, I think it looks good, especially with the polished stainless frame. I wouldn't do it to my own boat, but it looks good on yours.

PhantomChaos 10-10-2001 05:10 PM

Bill272.......yeah, it's a 2-part black epoxy mix. You really have to move fast to get it spread evenly across the windscreen before it dries, otherwise it gets lumpy.

I used the same thing on the Crack Bus, but added Kevlar powder in the mix too to help insure survivability with the drive-by shootings. It really dries fast with the Kevlar powder. I guess that makes it a 3-part mix at that point.

CHECKERS!!!!!!!:D

wild willy 02-27-2002 07:11 AM

tinted windows

if you have to look thru the windshield while driving it will be too dark to see debris in the water, especially if you are wearing sun glasses also!! been there!! done that!!! DON'T TINT

blown formula 02-27-2002 01:16 PM

Don't tint it!!
There are always 2 issue to address:
How does it look? (enhance the look).
How does it affect saftey ? Remember that crazy PWC owner or kid running around at dusk? Can you see him/her thru the tint in low light? I'm sure at night we would all look over the windshield for better visibility, but dusk????? Who knows! Call your attorney! :)
