1st--anyone know if I can order the snap in carpet for my 223 LS(grey) already made or is this a custom job?

2nd-- I need a set of new hatch hinges, Formula (awesome cust. service) sent me the drawings for them but would like to just order them, any ideas???

Re: SNAP IN CARPET/ hatch hinges

Not sure if there is a "snap-in" version of the carpet. I recently bought a '91 242SS and all the 242's I looked at (7) had the carpet just laying in place; no snaps.

As far as the hatch hinge is concerned - you mean the deck hatches on the cabin, or the engine hatch? If it is the deck hatches, I would try to find out the manufacturer (i.e. brand) of the hatches. That will lead you to possible replacement parts.

It seems like a lot of the components to the Formulas of that vintage are still commercially available.

Regards,

carpet - just go to upholstery shop and have one made to fit, same or less $ than replacement.

Call R & R Textiles Marine Carpet division -- http://www.rrtextiles.com/marine/index.html they have a lot of templates and will make for you. THiers is also the bst marine carpet there is--it doesn't have that black rubber chit on the back.

This is the right place to go. Lay out your cockpit pattern or old carpet outline on contractors bisqueen/plastic. Pick out your color (nothing dark .. too hot in the sun), fold up and mail the pattern, and you will have your carpet in 7-10 days. Very reasonable price, too.

Stay away from the stuff with the rubber backing. Mine has, or had, it. Now it's falling off and makes a real mess.

The carpet I had done for my 311 was such high quality and good fit, it didn't need snaps to stay in place.

Formula recommended Matworks . They send a free kit that includes samples and a big piece of a pattern that you can use to make a template with snap locations. I have the kit but haven't gotten around to using it yet. The samples look like very good quality carpet....

That bunch uses the rubber-backed carpet--it leaves a mess as the rubber deteriorates from UV and sun and moisture.

Go with R & R.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check R & R...any idea on rough pricing for a 336 cockpit?

Just called them and it's $5-$8 per square ft, depending on the style of carpet....

I think my 311 cockpit carpet with embroidered Formula and bound edges was under $400 with shipping.
