Formulas at Pickwick,TN Poker Run
Looks like our 353/600 and Thomas Winstead's 382/600 will have the company of Dukenrock's 382 on the Saturday Poker Run at Pickwick Lake in conjunction with the OSS Offshore Race Sunday. Should be a fun time on the lake of Fountains :p Should have an opportunity for some good pictures to post later if Kevin charges his batteries :D

Re: Formulas at Pickwick,TN Poker Run
I got the batteries charging. Just hope all my gas doesn't leak out before I get there :drink:

Re: Formulas at Pickwick,TN Poker Run
Must be Friday the 13th. Kevin's truck is broken down in Kentucky. Update later. Bummer :(
|
Re: Formulas at Pickwick,TN Poker Run
As of 8 PM Kevin and Kelly are stranded in Shelbyville,KY and a big Dodge dealer is trying to find the parts to get them going. They may make the Poker Run yet,but it is Friday the13th for sure.

Re: Formulas at Pickwick,TN Poker Run
I'm sorry to hear that... :(
Kevin seems to me to be the kinda guy who'll make the best of it. :) |
Re: Formulas at Pickwick,TN Poker Run

Re: Formulas at Pickwick,TN Poker Run
Robert,
What did the Fountain boys think about the new Hot Rod Formula boiling the water on Pick Wick, weather permitting???  |
Re: Formulas at Pickwick,TN Poker Run
Rained so hard that we came in before the first stop, loaded the boat and went to the pits. Cleared up later but we didn't relaunch, lost a wheel off the trailer and went home on 5 wheels. Not sure if Kevin ever made it. It was Fri 13th on Sat for both of us.Robert

Here we are loading up on a second tow truck. Dealership couldn't help so we decided to take it to a Cummins Dealership to have a pump ionstalled. (The Dodge dealership told me they had one. Found out they lied to me just to get me out of their hair. It was after 5PM on Friday, they wanted o get home)
This was the guy that saved they trip. :drink: |

Left the truck at a well known Dealership near Louisville while we await the new pump to arrive. (6 day timeframe) Meanwhile, I am able to locate a dually truck that will pull the boat down to Pickwick. They rented it to me for $75.00 a day.Drank a lot of Gas and Oil

Re: Formulas at Pickwick,TN Poker Run
so the way cool rollback guy hooked you up with camera batteries too I see.
Way to go Kev. Too many of us wouldn't have made "lemonade". an inspiration to all of us! :drink: |
Re: Formulas at Pickwick,TN Poker Run
Troutly,
The water was prettyt calm, had some extra weight with the water filled up, luggage, food etc. Top speed I saw was about 76 GPS. That was trimmed and full throttle. Thomas's 600's sound awesome from inside the boat. He's got quite a rig. I'm not sure if he pushed it that weekend. He had the wife and Boatler on board. Sure was a pretty boat. Pictures don't do it justice. The Smartcraft electronics was pretty neat too. I wish I had one. Maybe if he feels sorry for me he'll give me a good deal on his boat when he parts with it . :drink:

Re: Formulas at Pickwick,TN Poker Run
Rollback guy Eric would have bought me a camera if I needed one! He made sure we were in good shape before he parted. I owe him big time. Glad I had the camera. I took over 200 pictures. I go through some more and post some of the Pier 57 stuff. There were also a couple neat boats I was able to capture.

This boat ran a couple of times while I was there. Sounded great. I wanted to see it in person but never was able to catch up with him. I was told it has a single engine and takes two to drive it and has a pretty good top speed. I later saw the boat at the Pier 57 store. Nice looking boat.

Re: Formulas at Pickwick,TN Poker Run
My favorite speed was around 45 mph. The boat just purred and used about 40gph.

hows the FloScan working for you?

After running the first day with Robert, we were trying to see if his 600's were more frugal on fuel than the 525's, and I realized I was only showing half of the fuel I was actually using. I had a setting wrong (A instead of D) on the meter. Once I changed it the Floscan was counting fuel faster than I could! It looks like it's right on the money now. The factory fuel gauge is pretty much useless now. It was showing dead E and the low fuel light was on and I still had 30+ gallons of fuel. (Not much, but in a pinch it's nice to know you still have those 30 gallons!) After seeing Thomas's Smartcraft, it makes the Floscan look sad! Did you get out yet?

Re: Formulas at Pickwick,TN Poker Run
I did the same thing on my last boat. I was cruising along bragging to the X how fantastic on fuel this thing is ....and sputter....sputter...sputter.
Got towed to a nearby state park by a drunk fisherman in a rental. :drink: not out yet. weather is sh!t here. I'm off this week and hope to finish all the installs and upgrades to the boat. the Corsa's are on, silent thunder and restrictor plates out. fuel sensors are in (went the NavMan route) all fresh magnesium anodes I had a seeping fitting on a steering ram transom stereo remote in made a new 5" one piece V-berth mattress (36 ILD foam) from foamorder.com with a thin memory topper and custom cover...can you say comfort? this week... move two guages and flushmount plotter/antenna install six Infinity Reference speakers install red drinkholders and a nice looking Dino Red/Black wheel from TooOld '05 style cockpit carpet going in a matching stainless 18" handle on the deck flat just inside of the w/s on the port side so the women don't lean forward to get a handhold (that drives me nuts). and a few other small items... I put the boat away fully minted out and waxed...the deck has remained covered. though the bilge needs a good cleaning, and the cockpit will need a touchup after the installs. having a 40'x60' polebarn with a concrete floor sure is nice to work on boats! the trailer needs brake work and a couple split bunks replaced, but I'll do that on rainouts after my season begins. This is the year for outfitting. If it makes me late...so be it. I wont rush any of this, and it has to go around my work schedule... there's always the little things that slow you down...nothing on a boat is ever as easy in execution as it seems in the planning, and always takes twice as long. wish I had a cool boss like you do Kev... :D I could take another week to wrap this up and have no worries. :p |
Re: Formulas at Pickwick,TN Poker Run
Sounds like alot of stuff there Rippem. Now get that thing in the water! Send me some pics of the new cover in the V. My '01 had one and I liked it. This one doesn't have one and I have kinda been looking. Let me know what you think of the Nav sensors. You might as well send some pics of all the other stuff you did too!
The Boss guy's not always cool. He's got me working again, and I really wanted to take another week off :drink: |
Re: Formulas at Pickwick,TN Poker Run
I'll take some pics when everything is done.

Re: Formulas at Pickwick,TN Poker Run
