Whales tail on 271?
 

Had someone recommend I add a Whale tail to the out drive of my 271 SR1. Claims it will add speed and stability? Thoughts? Comments? jokes?

Those things are stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Period!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you have an issue with planning, you need a good set of tabs. If your looking for more speed, one of those goofy fins certainly is NOT going to do it. More drag is all you get. Plus, they put a ton of strain on the cavitation plate.

Save those dumb things for dumb boats!

LOL... mine is coming off now as soon as my tabs are fixed that bayliner line closed the deal for me
