On my '86 Formula there is a set screw--(allen) on outside and bulb is really a headlamp bulb.

Hard to say without knowing what type of light it is.......the ones i had on my Scarab i had to get at them from the back...inside the boat. It was a pain to do but i didnt want to break the seal around the hull and have a leak. And the fact that the bolts holding it in place had nylock nuts on the back didnt make it too easy as a one man job! :D

There was an extensive thread on this topic a couple months ago. Search for "bulb replacement"; it was started 4/30 by dawiz74. BTW - Do you really cruise with them on? I was told it was illegal.

My '89 are gotten to from the inside. The bulb comes out with the white ball around it. You can buy the complete unit or it is possible to take the ball apart and replace just the bulb but it really wasn't designed that way.
Yes I do run with mine on occasionally in one particular snakey spot with reflective and NOT illuminated markers.
