I've been drooling over 353 Fastechs for some time now. The boat show is this weekend and I don't think I can hold out any longer. So, if anyone's interested in a Supercharged 357:

That's a heck of a lot of boat for short money. Somebody should jump on it pretty quickly I would think.

Can you get a loan on a 20 year old boat?

My bank would only do a loan on a 15 year old boat.

I'm sure you can if you have a good relationship with your banker. They can pretty much lend wherever they think the money is good.

If I were to do it again I'd get a home equity loan. I bought the 357 through my credit union. But, I would have gotten a MUCH better interest rate with a home equity loan than anything else.

I have really had to wrestle with the idea of selling my 357. I love the looks of the 357 and there is tons of room in the cockpit and cabin. I was tied up to a new Baja .38 Special a few weekends ago and my 357 was as long or longer then the .38 Special. There are pics of it in the "Post Pictures of Your Formula" thread.

I know that I would have much less interior room in a new 353 and we do weekend on the boat. But, I am coming into some extra money and the more I learn about the 353s and see them the more I like them. Plus I've already seen Formula's 0% financing go from 18 months to 12. I wonder how much longer those low rates will hold out.

It's a real tough decision. I had lots of plans for the 357. I replaced the cockpit carpet and this season I was going to replace the carpet in the cabin and recover the seats in grey this winter. A white rubrail and new white hatches were also on the list. Going from black to white on the rubrails and hatches makes a huge difference.

The engines were professionally built but the former owner installed them himself and frankly, he did a sloppy job in some areas. So, I wanted to pull the motors, clean up the bilge and reroute some of the wiring, etc. Just to make it look cleaner. Then, while the engines were out I was planning on painting the drives and tabs and getting rid of that teak swim platform and just plugging the holes or maybe replace it with an aluminim tubular platform. My wife likes the teak. But, I think it makes the boat look older. I've seem some without any swim platform and I like the look. But, it seems like it would be a lot harder to get out of the boat from the water without the platform. Eventually I had planned on removing the hockey stick stripes and having the whole boat painted white. I've already put a lot into it. The blowers were rebuilt last year right TRS drive and transmission were rebuilt the year before. I also forgot to put in the ad that it has Stainless Marine Exhaust. There are too many extras on the boat to list.

If I can sell it fairly quick and easy I will do it. Otherwise, I'll probably just end up keeping her. Who knows.

Question - If you were going to list an older boat for sale like mine what would you recommend?

A broker?

Any opinions are appreciated. I feel like the boat will be a bargain for someone. But, it has to be a buyer who isn't afraid of turning a few wrenches. I assume there is a limited market for a 20 year old boat - even one in good condition.
