88.9 Gps # On Flat Water, Poker Run Last August. Not Much In The Water As Far As Steering Goes. Sure Had Some Scratching There Heads Wondering What That Old Turd With A Square Windshield Was Doing Up Front. It Was Fun Anyway!!!!!!!!!! Am Adding Ponies But Conserned With The Steering. I Only Have Single Ram On Starboard Side , Like I Say Loose On Steering.

Re: Top Speeds For Kaama Surface Drives
Check with Galen at Speedmaster. He showed me one he had there. I think that sixes and 3A props fit them. He'll know for sure.

Re: Top Speeds For Kaama Surface Drives
I am running a 1987 311 with Kaama's and 375 hp. The drives are 1:1 with twin disc 502 tranny, props are 16.5 x 26 (I think, gotta check). Runs around 68, and handles great. I do have the newer Kaamas with the high mount for the trim cylinder and daul ram steering. I have always wanted to repower, sounds like yours runs great.
I saw a thread a while back about drive boots, anybody find some? Mine are good now, but just thinking ahead. |

Re: Top Speeds For Kaama Surface Drives
Just shy of 4900.
Have you had any prop problems, mine are original Kaama wheels. I keep hearing of guys loosing a blade. I have only sent mine out once to have them checked for cracks. |
Re: Top Speeds For Kaama Surface Drives
No problems yet, I don't know if they are the originals or not. I seem to remember the p/o saying he bought these, not sure though.

Hey guys,
Just wanted to ask River Rat if you have any pics of your 311 that you can share? When did you pick up your boat? Thanks......Al |

Isnt one of the weissmann drives using the same boot as the kaama? Are they still using that style boot or having them made? |
Re: Top Speeds For Kaama Surface Drives
Rubber Tire Patches On The Inside Of The Boots Works Great,if Needed.

I can send a picture of one drive [file is too big]. |
Re: Top Speeds For Kaama Surface Drives
River That is just damn cool! Was '87 the last year formula offered Kaama's as an option? River, you seem to have what looks like a gimbal or plate that cuda doesn't have....anyone know what the reason is for this? If there were more boots out there for these drives I would think about a kaama boat in a heartbeat.

Re: Top Speeds For Kaama Surface Drives
The Kaama drive evolved over several years with several improvements. I think '87 was the first year to offer the tear drop shaped transom plate that I have, earlier models used a round assembly. With the tear drop assembly the trim cylinder has a mounting boss at the top of the transom plate. I have a set of spare drives and I can see that the main housings are a little different, again showing changes through the years. I know that they talked about a plug in style transmission to eliminate the set of "U" joints inside the transom but I have never seen this.

Re: Top Speeds For Kaama Surface Drives
The Weismam guys father designed the Kaama. I believe he is a member here. Yes, they had a drive model that used the same boot. Appearance of drive is completely different, but it incorporates the same boot. They say they are working on getting another boot made. Archer claims they are also working on it. They both seem very confident they will succeed. They have been confident for over a year. I haven't checked with them lately. Another member was going to try to help (Glassdave maybe), but I haven't heard anything. I have much bigger problems than the boot right now, but I will be really pissed when I get to the point where that piece of rubber becomes a problem.

Re: Top Speeds For Kaama Surface Drives
I wish Archer would just tell somebody who made the boots. It's been over two years I've been wanting one.
