Re: Hi all new guy looking at a 357
What Cuda said. Looks like a nice ride and in very good shape. Have a survery done. Looks like a lot of boat for the money, especially with a new trailer under her. Good luck.

Re: Hi all new guy looking at a 357
Looks Nice...I have an 88 with 420s. She burns alot of fuel but its a great boat! With tons of room for a go fast. Takes alot...and I mean alot of $$$ to make them go fast! They are very heavy, but the ride is superb. Expect about 60-65 MPH if she aint tired. Get a servey, looks like a pretty nice deal if you can get the trailer with it.

Re: Hi all new guy looking at a 357

Re: Hi all new guy looking at a 357
I based my thought that it has been well cared for by looking how clean the bilge is. That's what I always check. If they kept it clean, odds are they also did the required maintenance on it. Keep us informed if you pick it up.

Re: Hi all new guy looking at a 357
hey Killer wish I new last week, I was in the area and would have peeked at it for you. I'm not an expert but I don't think the steel braided fuel line is CG approved, is that a marine carb? Formula is one of only 2 boats I'd buy from the mid 80's, just sold my 311 last year

Re: Hi all new guy looking at a 357
CMG well thats usually my luck a day late and a dollar short. Good question on the hose I don't know and I'm a Earls freak have the stuff all over my car. I am going to take a look at it next Saturday Ill have to check the carbs.
Perfectmix thanks for the welcome |
Re: Hi all new guy looking at a 357
I did a quick search and found this
TO COMPLY WITH THE LAW Is the hose marked? Does the marking contain all the following? “USCG Type A1, A2, B1, or B2" Year of hose manufacture Manufacturer’s name or trademark Are all the letters and numerals at least one-eighth inch high? and Are the markings permanent? Legible? In the English language? On the outside of the hose? Are the marking intervals on the hose 12-inches or less? I did not find any USCG specs or approvals on the three braided line manufactures sites I checked |
Re: Hi all new guy looking at a 357
best to remove, the CG doing an inspection would be the least of your worries - just imagine an insurance company after a fire claim or something close! Their first goal is to find a way to get out of a claim and that would pretty much do it. (you'll have to get a survey for insurance any ways, it would appear as a line item to be fixed prior to insurance)
best of luck |
Re: Hi all new guy looking at a 357
The survey should let you know if it is up to spec. on lines, carbs, etc. for coast guard.

Re: Hi all new guy looking at a 357
If I like it I plan on getting a survay done. Any one know of any good surveyors in the area.

Killer TA
If you're still looking for a 357 then check out mine in the Swap Shop. I have more pics and did a survey on it when i bought it just over 2 years ago. Mine is not perfect but definitely priced to sell now. If the boat was in Florida it would already be sold. I've had a lot of interest but getting someone to come and see it has been an issue. Where are you located? I'm asking $29,000 for mine with the aluminum triple axle trailer. Here is a link: http://www.offshoreonly.com/classifi...&cat=25&page=1 Thanks to Jeff 32 for telling me about this post. Brent |

Re: Hi all new guy looking at a 357
You will get what you pay for, nothing more ,nothing less , for this kind of boat there are no super bargains. People selling these boats know how much they have in their boats, usually they owe the bank the amount they are asking. Start looking for a good solid boat at a decent price ,have the hull an engines surveyed by someone that is licenced to do this kind of work in the end you won;t be disappointed . A boat becomes part of you, your wife won't understand that, but it's true now go find a nice boat that will last you 4 or 5 years with no major problems , it will be a hard search , but their out there. Good luck dude
