Stereo System ?????

Hey guys i just bought a 1989 Formula 272 Sr-1 and had it out forthe first time this weekend, it ran great 65mph with full tanks and 3 big guys,so i'm happy. But i want to upgrade the stereo on it,do like a CD player and two new 6.5's in the side but has anyone ever put subs in that sound good without having to put 12in holes under the rear bench.Mabye like a bass tube or actually build a sub box that sits inside the rear bench seat.Any info would be great pics would be best thanks guys.

Hey there, I just put a new system in my 312 and I love it. I have a pioneer CD head unit, xm radio with marine momo polk audio 6 X 9's (2 pair). I also put two 10 inch bazooka waterproof tubes in the side compartments near the rear seat. Sounds great and everything is hidden. I can get u pics but im not sure how to post them.

Here are some shots from my old 303. The subs are in boxes...can't remember but I think they were 1.2 cf. The pods were custom made out of fiberglass housing a 6 1/2" speaker. All were memphis audio. 12" subs (had one on each side) 6x9's were in stock location and the amp (5 channel) the cabinet above the fridge!

Do an IPOD based system, it does not Skip Skip Skip when you hammer a wave. We are using them in our sand rails with great success. CD changers and in dash units are not happy with salt spray and a marine enviroment. Limited life span. Your I pod goes with you :drink:

another option for the subs is "truck style boxes" they fit in the sliding storage compartments on the sides. You can push them all the way toward the front of the compartment to not block the area for storage, its what I did and it sounds great and its out of the way

I have had very good luck with the Clarion free airs in the under the bench situation. I put 4 of them in there for Phantom Chaos's boat. That played loud, I hope they are still working 100%. I have tried others but seem to come back to the Clarions for free air set ups.

When upgrading stereo and amps is it best to use the factory volume switches or by-pass?
