Re: Maximus on 382
Magicfloat,
I can turn stock 28 bravo's on my 382 w/o boxes and 620 HP to 5500 rpm. Have you seen good results with maximus props on a non boxed 382? Jeff |
Re: Maximus on 382
Yes,try a set of 26's,don't lab them. Our latest results show that the only reason to lab props is to get more rpm if you need it. On heavy boats like Formulas it seems labbing just causes more slippage. But your best bet is to listen to an expert like Brett or Julie. Props are not science, they are art,an artist is needed for best results.

Re: Maximus on 382
Probrably should have clarified my last post somewhat about lab props. Lately our results on Formulas have favored stock props, but we don't have the testing facilities that the larger prop shops have. For those of you that are really serious, put your trust in folks like Throttle up or BBlades. They have much more knowledge than I do. They are the artists.

Re: Maximus on 382
Magicfloat,
Thanks for your input. From all the testing I have done with the 382, I am beginning to believe that a lower pitch non-labbed prop is the best all around vs a labbed higher pitch. Jeff |
Re: Maximus on 382
Well, I got a chance to run the boat today with the new props.
I still have some dialing to do but the preliminary report is: 99 382 with 1.5 Bravo Performance drives on Stelings boxes 500EFI with head work, bumped up cams and ECU mods ? 550ish HP (no dyno). Light load, 1/2 tank fuel Lake Michigan, Calm Water Temp 47 Air Temp 71 14 7/8 x 28 pitch labbed Bravo 1s 3500 RPM 45 mph 15 1/4 x 28 pitch labbed Maximus 3500 RPM 54 mph :D Top Speed GPS: Bravos 76 mph @ 5500 rpm Maximus 76.8 mph @ 5000 rpm :woohoo: I'm in debate over whether to sell these and drop to 27 pitch, but I really like the cruise speed and in the real world, WOT is a rare occurrence :drink: |
Re: Maximus on 382
I just ran the slip numbers
Bravo 1 3500 rpm = 45 mph = 27% slip Maximus 3500 rpm = 54 mph = 13% Bravo 1 5500 rpm = 77 mph = 21% Maximus 5000 rpm = 77 mph = 13% In this application looks like the maximus is the clear winner - I have a non step 382 w/ sc 650's I'll check my slip #'s with Bravo 1 28's when the motors go back in |
Re: Maximus on 382
Sea-crit - about your slip numbers - they are so bad maybe you really have # 26 props and not # 28's

I would imagine that a set of 28 x 15.25 bravos would work much better, which I may do as a second set to compliment the Maximus set. :drink: |
