242 Exhaust

Well I have been thinking about this all winter long on how to clean up the exhaust going through the platform. Thanks to Rambicous with his new video I thought I would do the same.I was going to use flexable exhaust hose, but I was a little unsure about all the bends. So I talked to my brother inlaw who works with stainless alot an came up with this design.

Let me know what you think, my brother inlaw said he never wants to see my platform again :D

One more then I need to install an glass up the platform and order new gaskets.

I hope I get a little more sound out of this system :D

Re: 242 Exhaust

Pretty cool. Will there be bottoms in the larger square section? Looks like that section goes against the inside of the board at the transom, right?

Reason I'm asking is that if the large "box" section of the new exhaust is left open to the inside of the board an you plumb the stainless directly to the outlets, there will be no outlet for the exhaust that escapes the stainless box section. I'm probably just not seeing something correctly though.

Awsome looking job there Masi. I'm curious to here how it sounds now.

Re: 242 Exhaust

Third, the box opens either to the left or right depending on the side, the box is small but all the stainless is 4' plenty of room to breath. I will also attach the box to the platform.

Thanks Mo, my brother inlaw had it for three weeks I was getting a little nervous. A lot of work for no HP :D

My only fear would be blowing the exhaust into the square box and leaving it to find its own way out without a built in curve to guide it :(
But then again , you don't have maga horse power
Should sound pretty good ;)

You know what looks better, saves weight, and avoids all the fabrication and exhaust guesswork?... take the platform off and replace it. Then run the exhaust straight out the transom.

Thanks, Mo your right in 2006 I have a 26 footer :D

I am having a few problems with the box that was made It seem it will hold some water, but I am not sure how much. I would drill a pilot hole to let some drain but that makes me feel uneasy, possable reversion? If it got to high?

In one of the pics you can see it is about 41/2' to travel up seem like a lot of water :( I am also thinking flexable 4 in. hose to make the last connection.

Any thoughts my wife thinks I`m a fool :D

Re: 242 Exhaust

I don't see why you would get any more water with your system than the original S.T. The exhaust isn't any higher or lower than original.
I would drill a hole (or some holes) to allow for drainage.

PS. Your wife is probably riight :D :D :D

But should include ALL of us ;)

Re: 242 Exhaust

Don't make the holes to small so as to clog up.

If your wife thinks you are a fool then you are probably on the right track :evilb: :evilb:

Re: 242 Exhaust

I would think if I put one 1/2 in. hole in each box that would alow enough drainage?

Well the project is done, everything worked out fine. The water flowed out fine below the platform . I put three holes underneath on each side for more water flow. It is almost a dry exhaust :drink:

It was a fun project, but I`m glad it`s over :D
